Today’s TBOTD Text Bae Of The Day Street Bit is for distracted pedestrians. UAB developed an app Street Bit that aims to keep pedestrians safe while walking the Birmingham streets.
The app development was initiated due to reports from the Centers for Disease Control revealing 7,000 deaths involving motor vehicles in 2020.
Street Bit was created to reduce the statistics, by providing road safety to distracted pedestrians. Utilizing Bluetooth the app sends auditory and visual warnings to pedestrians as they approach a street corner where Bluetooth beacons are installed.
