A new chapter in the late Nipsey Hussle’s legacy is on the horizon. This summer, a collaborative album with fellow Los Angeles artist Bino Rideaux titled Prolific will arrive, as announced by The Marathon Clothing. The project draws from previously unreleased material the pair recorded prior to Nipsey’s passing in 2019.
The rollout began February 13 with the debut of the lead single, “Reckless,” produced by Mike & Keys. The creative partnership between Nipsey and Bino dates back years, most notably with their 2017 joint project No Pressure, which included collaborations like “None of This” and “Blueprint” alongside Dave East.
After Nipsey’s untimely death – after he was fatally shot outside his Marathon store in Los Angeles on March 31, 2019 – only a limited number of posthumous releases have featured his voice. Among them were “Higher” with DJ Khaled and John Legend, as well as “What It Feels Like” alongside Jay-Z for the Judas and the Black Messiah soundtrack. His final solo-era single, “Racks in the Middle” featuring Roddy Ricch and Hit-Boy, later secured the Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance in 2020.
