Women’s History Month is about celebrating the resilience of women who create healing for others through their endurance of pain, which is what my #TBOTD Text Bae Of The Day Meesha Emmett has done.
After experiencing grief, sadness, and regret of losing a loved one to suicide. Meesha Emmett had a moment of clarity, deciding to make a difference so others wouldn’t experience her same devastation.
After reaching out to AFSP (American Foundation for Suicide Prevention) to chair a walk on the behalf of her late friend Alex in the fall of 2013, it sparked a massive response that Meesha Emmett chaired the walk annually until 2022.
Meesha found healing, comfort, and purpose through AFSP continuing to volunteer as a field advocate. Meesha would then join the AFSP Alabama chapter board of directors In 2018. Then, in 2020 she would advance to the board chair and is currently fulfilling the title of Alabama Area director.
